Bunker busters have reached their limits in terms of length and weight. Even large transport aircraft like the Globemaster are unlikely to be able to use bombs larger than the GBU-57.

It is possible to radically increase the depth of destruction of bunkers by using a series of two bombs, if the second one hits the channel already made by the first bomb. Moreover, the first bomb can be inert, without an explosive charge.

Such a "kit" can ensure penetration to a depth of up to 200 meters, at which it is possible to use a nuclear charge with a capacity of 50-100 tons.

The big difficulty is to ensure that the second bomb hits the channel that has been made. Especially in conditions of electronic suppression.

However, this problem can be technically solved by using combined target designation systems (not satellite or aircraft-based) located on the first projectile.

The peculiarity of such a targeting system is in the set of instruments, the use of relative high-precision coordinates (accuracy in centimeters) and several different guidance principles.

The problem has a solution.

An alternative is to use obsolete first stages of long-range ballistic missiles. Such booster units have high energy and allow the use of a very long projectile and to lift it to a great height.
